Law School Application Volume Data Report (Oct. 10, 2022)

As of October 10, 2022, both law school applicant and application numbers are down significantly vs. last cycle, though there's a big asterisk to these numbers, because last year applicants were quite a bit front-loaded due to the huge number of reapplicants. So these decreases will very likely become less pronounced later in the cycle—but still, this bodes well for applicants.

  • At this time last cycle, 14% of applications had been submitted
  • Applicants are down 13.6% vs. last cycle (2021-2022), and applications are down 19.7%
  • Applicants are down in all LSAT bandwidths (see below)
  • 53 schools are seeing an increase in their applications so far
  • 143 schools are seeing a decrease
  • 1 school no change
