Spivey Consulting welcomes Jayme McKellop, formerly Director of Admissions at Chicago Law School

The Spivey Consulting Group is thrilled to announce that Jayme McKellop will be joining our team as an Admissions Consultant. Jayme has 10 years of experience in legal practice and education, most recently serving as the Director of Admissions at the University of Chicago Law School.  In her five years at Chicago, she administered the application review process from start to finish, read thousands of law school applications, and was responsible for designing and implementing Chicago’s admissions interviewing program.  Before joining the admissions world, she practiced employment and labor law at Sidley Austin in Chicago.  Jayme has a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School and a B.A. in Psychology from Ohio University.  Although Jayme now focuses her time in the nonprofit sector concentrating on animal advocacy, she is excited for the opportunity to reconnect with law school applicants (and to work with a few of her favorite admissions colleagues again).  Jayme is a detail person.  She loves seeing the different pieces of the application come together and learning about an individual’s personal story.

Her role with SCG will be to work with clients on individual essays; such as Personal Statements, Character & Fitness essays, and school specific optional essays.  Jayme also will help clients who specifically seek interview preparation. This addition will continue to allow Mike Spivey and Karen Buttenbaum to dedicate their full attention to an intentionally capped number of full cycle admissions clients.

Mike Spivey noted:

“Jayme is the ideal addition to The Spivey Consulting Group and exactly what we have been looking for to meet a substantially increased demand in our services this cycle. We have wanted to find someone who we know personally, who cares about helping each law school applicant on an individual level, and who has both significant and recent admission file reading and decision experience from a highly regarded school. Jayme provides all of these with contagious enthusiasm and professionalism.  Our mission statement as a firm is simple: to provide expertise from professionals who have law school experience, who have made law school admissions  and career decisions, and who are passionate about helping individual clients get the best results possible. Jayme will complement this mission and allow us to offer one-off products for those that are not seeking full cycle help.”

Karen Buttenbaum, a Partner SCG, added:

“I’m excited that Jayme is joining our team. It was a pleasure to work with her when we were admissions colleagues at peer law schools, and I’m looking forward to working with her again.  She is a true professional; she understands the law school admissions process from the inside, and at the same time she understands the applicants’ needs. She is a terrific addition to the team.”
